Orange No. 4 in Face-Off Yearbook Poll

BALTIMORE – The Syracuse Orange is ranked No. 4 in the 2015 Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Top 20, released Monday, Dec. 8. It marks the fifth time in seven years the Orange has been ranked in the top five by the publication.

Syracuse is one of three Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the top five and all five ACC squads are ranked in the top 10.

Denver, a national semifinalist in 2014, is No. 1. The Pioneers are followed in order by Notre Dame, Duke, Syracuse and Johns Hopkins. North Carolina is sixth and Loyola is seventh. Cornell, Maryland and Virginia round out the top 10.

Last year, the Orange checked in at No. 2 in the Face-Off Yearbook rankings and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 31st time in 32 seasons.

Head coach John Desko enters his 17th year at the helm of Orange. Desko is 198-63 and has won five national championships. Captains Dylan Donahue, Tom Grimm, Hakeem Lecky, Kevin Rice and Henry Schoonmaker lead this year's squad, which returns to the field in January for the start of spring practice.
