Field hockey's freshmen class grows to five with Allie Mannheimer.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Over the coming weeks, Syracuse field hockey head coach Ange Bradley is announcing the program's 2014 signing class. Be sure to check Cuse.com as the Orange unveils its incoming class one-by-one.
Â
"I am very excited to welcome the Class of 2018 to our Syracuse Field Hockey Family," Bradley said. "This class has decided to join a university which offers excellence both in the classroom and on the field. This is a powerful recruiting class that will offer speed to our line-up, skill and a high level of hockey knowledge. This class represents five states and two countries; they are diverse and ready to help us pursue an ACC and NCAA championship. I cannot wait to help them develop and leave a legacy for future Syracuse Field Hockey student-athletes. There are many firsts that this class can achieve as a unit. On behalf of the Syracuse Athletic Department and our extended community please welcome the class of 2018 to our Syracuse family."

In today's installment, Bradley announces the addition of Allie Mannheimer of Skillman, N.J. to the 2014 roster.
Â
Mannheimer, back/midfielder, excelled for four years at Montgomery High School for head coach Tiffany Trockenbrod. She led the Cougars to a combined record of 55-29-6 in her career, tallying a total of 40 points on 22 goals and 18 assists. She also recorded two defensive saves during her time.
"I chose Syracuse because it has the best of both worlds: strong academics and successful sports teams," Mannheimer said. "The school spirit is incredible and I can't wait to become a member of the Syracuse family."
Â
Mannheimer is coming off an impressive senior season, recording 13 goals and seven assists to lead the Cougars to a 12-10-1 season. She was a team captain and was also named to the 2013 North Jersey All-Star team as a midfielder.
"Allie is a very intelligent defensive player," Bradley said. "She reads the game very well and possesses a good understanding of defensive principles. I look forward to Allie challenging for a starting job in our backfield this year."
Â
Mannheimer was named the Princeton Packet Field Hockey Player of the Year in 2013. She was also recognized as a Somerset County All-Stars first team player in 2012 and 2013, as well as Courier News All-Area in the same years.
Â
"Manny is a well-rounded player with a high field hockey IQ," Trockenbrod said. "Her dedication year round is what fueled our team to be the best it could be."
Mannheimer played club hockey for Total Dutch, coached by Ingrid Alkhoven.
Â
"Allie is a great play-maker sweeper with great game sense," Alkhoven said. "She is able to lead the play by making one of her famous moves to intercept the ball. Her leadership and presence is a pleasure for any coach."
Â
In addition to field hockey, Mannheimer also ran track in the winter and spring, participating in hurdles, sprints and triple jump.
Off the field, Mannheimer was a member of the National Honor Society and the student council, as well as a peer leader.Â
