Murray Named ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year

The Orange leads the league with seven selections to the All-ACC Academic team.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Alyssa Murray '14 has been named the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Murray is one of a league-best seven members of the Orange on the All-ACC Academic Team.
Murray finished her career with 362 points, which tie her for eighth on the NCAA's all-time scoring list and rank second on Syracuse's career ledger. She is a two-time Tewaaraton Award finalist and three-time first-team All-American. The child and family studies major finished second in the nation in scoring in 2014 with 110 points and became the first Syracuse player to record 100 or more points in a season three times. Murray is the second player in school history to post 300 points, 200 goals and 100 assists in her career.
The Orange led the league with seven selections to the All-ACC Academic Team. Murray was joined on the team by seniors Amy Cross, Natalie Glanell, Kasey Mock and Katie Webster and juniors Devon Collins and Kailah Kempney.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters. To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
