SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the fourth time in five weeks, the Orange football team (3-5, 1-3 ACC) hits the road when it heads to Kentucky to face Louisville (4-4, 3-2 ACC) on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network with Tom Werme (pbp), Renaldo Wynn (analyst), and Niki Noto (sideline) on the call.
In its last contest, Syracuse suffered a 45-21 loss at Florida State on Oct. 31. Freshman quarterback Eric Dungey recorded two rushing touchdowns against the Seminoles, the seventh time he's accounted for at least two touchdowns in 2015.
Louisville recorded a 20-19 win at Wake Forest on Oct. 30 in its most recent game and has won four out of its last five since starting 0-3. The Cardinals forced five turnovers against the Demon Deacons, including a season-best four interceptions. In addition, junior wide receiver Jamari Staples hauled in two touchdown receptions.Â
NON-OFFENSIVE SCORING
Through eight games, Syracuse has scored five non-offensive touchdowns, which leads the Atlantic Coast Conference. It marks the most non-offensive touchdowns that Syracuse has scored in a single season since 1997.
The Orange defense has accounted for three scores. Senior defensive end Donnie Simmons and sophomore cornerback Corey Winfield each have returned interceptions for touchdowns. Sophomore safety Antwan Cordy brought back a fumble 44 yards for a touchdown at Virginia on Oct. 17.
Junior wide receiver Brisly Estime has returned two punts for touchdowns, the first time since 2008 Syracuse has recorded two special teams touchdowns in a year.
SYRACUSE-LOUISVILLE CONNECTIONS
Syracuse defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough and Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham coached together at Michigan State from 1997-98. Bullough served as the defensive backs and offensive line coach, while Grantham coached the defensive line.
POINT PRODUCTION
In each of its first eight games, Syracuse has scored at least 20 points. It marks the second time in program history that has occurred. The only other team to do so was the 1959 national championship team, who averaged 39.0 points per contest. The 2015 Orange has shown much improvement in that category from a year ago. Through its first eight games in 2014, the squad averaged 20.5 points per game. The team has scored 8.8 more points per contest this year.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Louisville currently leads the ACC and ranks sixth nationally in interceptions. The Cardinals have intercepted 13 passes. Plus, Louisville is first in the conference and 13th nationally with 18 turnovers gained.
Freshman Lamar Jackson was one of the nation's top-rated, dual-threat quarterbacks in the Class of 2015.He currently leads Louisville in rushing, gaining 484 yards on the ground and has thrown for 1,342 yards.
Junior wide receiver Jamari Staples is coming off a career day. Staples had 10 catches for 133 yards and two scores at Wake Forest on Oct. 30. Staples transferred to Louisville from UAB prior to the start of the 2015 season.
THE LOUISVILLE SERIESÂ
Saturday's pairing  marks the 14th time the two schools will meet on the gridiron. Louisville owns a slight 7-6 advantage in the series. The two teams have split their last two matchups with the Orange topping the Cardinals 45-26 at the Carrier Dome in 2012. Last season, the Cardinals won in the Dome, 28-6.
In the 2012 contest, current New York Giants quarterback Ryan Nassib threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Orange past the 11th-ranked Cardinals.Â
One of the most memorable games of the series came during the 2007 season when Syracuse defeated No. 18 Louisville, 38-35. Orange quarterback Andrew Robinson and Louisville signal caller Brian Brohm combined for 978 yards passing in the contest. Robinson's 423 through the air ranks third on the Syracuse single-game record list.
