
Buescher, Polk Earn All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Syracuse sophomore Julian Buescher and junior Ben Polk have been voted to the All-South Region First Team. The All-Region teams were announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Wednesday, December 9.
Buescher is one of 15 semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the highest honor in collegiate soccer. He ranks seventh in the nation in assists with 11, which tie him for third on Syracuse's single-season record list. Buescher ranks second on the team in points (27) and goals (8). He was voted to the All-ACC First Team and the ACC All-Tournament Team.
Polk leads the team in points (28) and goals (12). He ranks 17th in the nation in goals and ninth in game-winning goals (5). Polk's 12 goals tie him for 10th on Syracuse's single-season record list and are the third-highest total for a junior in program history. He was named the MVP of the ACC Tournament after scoring both of Syracuse's goals in a 2-0 win at Clemson in the semifinals and its goal in a 1-0 victory at Notre Dame in the title match.
No. 6 Syracuse will compete in the national semifinals for the first time in school history when it takes on No. 3 Clemson at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11 at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas. The game will be available on ESPNU and ESPN3.
