The Syracuse University Athletics Military Appreciation Program is expanding for 2015-16. Throughout the 2015 football season, all active duty military and veterans are invited to use the 'Military Pass' to receive free or discounted tickets. The 'Military Pass,' established to honor and thank those who have served our nation, is the most recent addition to the Military Appreciation Program that includes the Hometown Hero celebration, 'Stars and Stripes Day,' and the football and men's basketball programs relationships with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum.
Â
The 'Military Pass' provides all active military and veterans the opportunity to receive two (2) complimentary tickets to any home football game by registering online (www.cuse.com/military). The tickets are available in a special ticket area on a first-come, first-served basis when ordered at least 10 days in advance (the deadline for the Sept. 4 game vs. Rhode Island is Wednesday, Sept. 2). In addition, all active military and veterans are invited to purchase up to four $10 tickets on the day of the game by presenting a military ID card.
Â
At every home game, the athletics department will honor a "Hometown Hero" and their family, recognizing their service and sacrifice to our nation and the Central New York community.
Â
The entire community is invited to join the celebration to honor the military for 'Stars and Stripes Day' on Nov. 14 when the Orange hosts Clemson.
Â
The Orange football program enjoys a strong relationship with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum. The team held a portion of its preseason training camp at the military post for the fourth year in a row last week. While at Fort Drum, the Syracuse student-athletes participate in Army physical training and small-unit leadership seminars and host a football youth clinic for the children of the soldiers, in addition to regular meetings and practice. In April, the Orange hosted the first Syracuse Football Fort Drum Combine at the Ensley Athletic Center.
Â
Syracuse opens the 2015 season at home on Friday, Sept. 4 against Rhode Island. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Carrier Dome. Season ticket packages start at just $99 and are available at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B), by calling 1-888-DOMETIX, or online. In addition, discounted group tickets (20 or more) for all home games can be purchased by calling 315-443-3212.
