Lamison and Manley each record four-point efforts in the win
No. 4 Syracuse was once again led by the team's newest members as the Orange rolled to a 4-1 win over Pacific in the final contest of a three-game road trip through California.
Syracuse, which hasn't trailed yet in 2015, once again got off to a quick start. The Orange jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Tigers tallied a late goal with under five minutes to play.
The teams each recorded 13 shots, with Syracuse putting eight on net.
Graduate student Alma Fenne got the Syracuse scoring started off a penalty corner 19 minutes into the game. Fenne buried her shot with the assists coming from seniors Emma Russell and Alyssa Manley. The goal was Fenne's first collegiate tally.
Just 50 seconds later, Emma Lamison scored her second goal of the season and first of two on the afternoon. Lamison capitalized on a Pacific turnover, carrying the ball past two defenders into the circle and beating goalkeeper Laura Pujade for the score.
It was Lamison again who put the Orange up 3-0 heading into the locker room, when she finished an Alyssa Manley feed with just-under nine minutes to play before halftime.
After two helpers in the first, Manley scored for herself to open the second half scoring. Manley took the ball from a Pacific defender, carrying it into the circle and firing a low laser past Pujade to put the Orange up 4-0.
Leah Cofer broke up the shutout with under-five to play when she redirected an Ali Campos shot past Syracuse goalkeeper Jess Jecko for the score.
It was the only blemish on the day for Jecko, who has allowed just two goals in 223:25 minutes of play on the season so far. She made four saves on the afternoon today to preserve the win for Syracuse.
The Orange will next return to J.S. Coyne Stadium for its home opener on Sunday, Sept. 6 against UMass. The game is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m., with the contest also serving as military and first responders appreciation day.
