Orange seeking second straight conference victory Saturday
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse football team hits the road for the fourth time in five games when it takes on Boston College on Saturday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Syracuse defeated No. 17 Virginia Tech 31-17 in its last contest. It marked the first time the Orange defeated a nationally-ranked foe since a 45-26 win against No. 11 Louisville on Nov. 10, 2012. Head coach Dino Babers became the fourth SU head coach to beat a top-25 team in his first season at the helm.

"What a game with Virginia Tech," Babers said at his weekly news conference. "A fabulous win for the players, community, and administration. I'm excited about that win, there's no doubt about it. There's always a good warm, fuzzy feeling about doing something like that."

Entering the game, Virginia Tech ranked third in the conference and 25th nationally in scoring offense, averaging 39.4 points per game. The Orange held the Hokies to three first-half points and 17 points overall, their lowest scoring output of the season.

"That credit goes to Coach [Brian] Ward and the defensive coaches," added Babers. "They do a fabulous job."

In Boston College, the Orange are facing a team with wins over Buffalo, Massachusetts and Wagner, but has struggled this season against ACC opponents, losing to Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Clemson by the combined score of 122-24. The Eagles boast one of the top defenses in the country. Entering Saturday's contest, Boston College is fourth in the nation in total defense, holding opponents to 253 yards per game.

"They need to understand that it's just one win," Babers said of his players. "Treat the Boston College football team with respect. Respect your opponent. Go back out and go back to work. All we've proved so far is that we're occasionally great. I want this football team to be consistently good."
