Syracuse Faces Longtime-Rival Georgetown Saturday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Orange are back in action Saturday, Dec. 17 to face former BIG EAST foe Georgetown. The game, which is sponsored by Express Mart, will tip at 12 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. This will be the 92nd meeting between the two teams.
Fans can watch the game on ESPN and Watch ESPN or listen to the live broadcast on the Syracuse IMG Radio Network. Tickets can be purchased on Cuse.com, by calling 1-888-DOMETIX or at Gate B at the Carrier Dome. Fans can also watch the game on ACC Network Extra.
"31" FOR PEARL
Saturday is "Pearl Washington Day" at the Carrier Dome to honor the Syracuse legend. All fans in attendance at Saturday's game will receive a "31" jersey commemorative pin and a Pearl magnet, courtesy of Kinney Drugs. A special halftime presentation focusing on RememberingPearl will evoke smiles from fans of all ages and throughout the game RememberingPearl moments will be shared. Fans are invited to 'Be Like Pearl' by making a donation to take a half-court shot for a chance to win a Peal long sleeve T-Shirt (a court will be set up in the backcourt area of the Dome). Proceeds will benefit local pediatric cancer research.

FOR STARTERS
- After a 99-77 victory over Boston University last Saturday, Syracuse remains undefeated at home. The win improved the Orange's overall mark to 6-3.
- Freshman Taurean Thompson and graduate student John Gillon came off the bench and recorded career-highs in points against the Terriers. Thompson had 22 points with seven rebounds, while Gillon contributed 23 points and was 7-for-9 from the field.
- Andrew White III remains the only member of the Orange to reach double figures in scoring for all nine games this season after scoring 19 against Boston University.
- Syracuse and Georgetown's rivalry dates back to the 1929-30 season. Since then, the Orange lead the Hoyas in the all-time series, 49-42.
- Georgetown has won its last three games, improving its record to 6-4. Graduate transfer Rodney Pryor leads the Hoyas in scoring this season, averaging 20.6 and 4.8 rebounds points per game. Junior guard L.J. Peak leads Georgetown in steals with 15 and averages 16.4 points per game.
- John Thompson III is in his 12th season as the head coach for the Hoyas with an overall record of 264-133. He has guided the Hoyas to the NCAA Tournament in eight of the previous 11 seasons. Prior to taking over the program at Georgetown, Thompson III was the assistant coach at his alma mater, Princeton, from 1995-2000, and then the head coach from 2000-2004.
