Syracuse recorded a school-record 30 wins in 2015-16
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – It was certainly the best season in program history for the 2015-16 Syracuse University women's basketball team. Syracuse shattered countless school records en route to its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament final.
Members of the local media met with select student-athletes on Thursday afternoon in the final media opportunity of the season. For some, it marked the end of a great season and chance to preview the upcoming 2016-17 campaign. For others, it served as one of the final obligations as an Orange student-athlete.
Cuse TV caught up with Brianna Butler and Cornelia Fondren in the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center on Thursday. Butler and Fondren completed their collegiate careers on April 5 in the club's loss to Connecticut in the national championship.
Butler exits as one of the program's most-storied players. She finished her career ranked fourth in school history in scoring, tallying 1,640 points in her four seasons on campus. The King of Prussia, Pa. native owns the NCAA Division I single-season record with 129 3-point field goals made. Later in the day following the interview, Butler became the third player in program history to be selected in the WNBA Draft.
Fondren was a key part of the senior class that accumulated a school-record 99 wins in their time at Syracuse. The Memphis, Tenn. native finished her career with 215 steals, which ranks eighth in program history. She set an Orange record with 10 steals against Howard in December.
