TINTON FALLS, N.J.- After being named to the Sky Blue FC preseason roster one month ago, Syracuse women's soccer alum Erin Simon has officially earned a spot on the 2016 pro roster.
Sky Blue FC is a member of the National Women's Soccer League and joining Simon on the team includes U.S. Women's National Team members Christie Rampone and Kelly O'Hara. Simon becomes the second player in program history behind Casey Ramirez '12 to land a spot on a roster in the National Women's Soccer League.
"It's been an amazing experience moving from college to the professional level. I've learned so much from the players and coaches at Sky Blue already and it has helped me grow more as a player," Simon said. "I am extremely blessed and grateful that I am able to continue my soccer career and follow my dreams of playing soccer professionally."
Simon played in 74 career games, splitting time between defender and forward with the Orange. Simon played her first two seasons as a forward, recording nine goals and six assists for 24 points before moving back to defense. As a junior and senior, Simon was a steady leader on the backline, starting in all 37 games that she played in.Â
"I would like to thank my parents, family, and friends for all the love and support! I'd also like to thank my coaches and teammates at Syracuse who always supported me and pushed me to be a better player," Simon said. "Although I am going to be miles away in New Jersey, I will always bleed orange."Â
