Syracuse won all but two races on the weekend
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The No. 19 Syracuse University women's rowing team won all but two races at the Doc Hosea Invite, its first event of the 2016 season, on Saturday evening and Sunday morning on Fish Creek.
On Saturday night, Syracuse kicked things off by retaining the Kittell Cup by defeating Boston University in the first varsity eight competition. The Orange placed second in the race, clocking in at 7:15.45, more than 30 seconds ahead of the Terriers. Penn captured the Orange Challenge Cup, defeating Syracuse by less than one second.
The Orange were victorious in the second and third varsity eight races and won the first and second varsity four competitions on Saturday.
On Sunday, Syracuse finished in first place in the first varsity eight, third varsity eight, first varsity four, and second varsity four races. The first varsity eight crew recorded the top time of the weekend on Sunday morning, covering the course in 6:34.23.
The Orange are back in action Saturday, April 16 at the Clemson Invite in Clemson, S.C.
