NCAA TOURNEY BOUND
5/3/2016 5:18:00 PM | Tennis
For the first time in program history, the Syracuse women's tennis team is headed to the NCAA Tournament.
The Orange (14-8) will travel to Florida to take on Georgia State (15-5) in the first round of the tournament. Florida (21-2) will host the first two rounds as the No. 2 seed. First- and second-round competition takes place May 13-14 and will feature four teams playing in a single-elimination format.
"It's a big day for our program and a testament of a lot of hard work and persistence from our young ladies," head coach Younes Limam said. "There are a lot of people that contributed in different ways to today's achievement; our coaches and athletics department, former players and the entire Drumlins family. We look forward to our first round at the NCAAs."
The winner of each site advances to the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the 16 teams will compete for the national championship May 15-19. The event will be hosted by The University of Tulsa.Â

Tournament matches will be regulation dual matches with three (3) eight-game, pro-set doubles played for one team point, followed by six (6) singles matches, each valued at one team point, played in best-of-three sets. Regular scoring will be used and a 12-point tiebreaker will be played at seven-games-all in doubles and at six-games-all in singles.
Time for the matches have not yet been released, but be sure to check back on Cuse.com for the latest information.
