SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University head coach Quentin Hillsman officially announced the addition of guard Isis Young to the program for the upcoming 2016-17 campaign. A transfer from the University of Florida, Young will be able to play in games during the 2017-18 season and have two years of eligibility.
"Isis is a very explosive guard," Hillsman commented. "She can impact the game at both ends of the floor with her court savvy and athleticism. We are excited to welcome her to the team."
After receiving a medical redshirt in 2014-15, Young made her collegiate debut for Florida this past season. The Berlin, N.J. native played in 16 games, averaging 1.9 points, 0.3 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per contest. She scored at least one point in four of the last five games of the year for the Gators.
Young was a highly-ranked recruit coming out of high school. A four-star recruit, she was ranked the No. 59 player nationally in the Class of 2014 by espnW Hoopgurlz. In addition, she was recognized as the No. 12 guard in her class.
The 5-7 guard graduated high school from Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J. in 2014. She played in 17 games at Life Center Academy before suffering a season-ending injury. Prior to the injury, she was averaging 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Young played her first three scholastic seasons at Trenton Catholic Academy, where scored more than 1,000 career points. In 2013, she guided the team to Non-Public B state title.
