
Munroe Invited To Canadian Development Camp

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Rising sophomore Allie Munroe of the Syracuse women's ice hockey team was invited to attend Canada's National Women's Development Team selection camps in Calgary from Aug. 5-21.
Munroe, along with 84 of the top women's players in Canada, will participate in the camps at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park. As a part of the National Team's Summer Showcase, 42 development team invitees and 43 under-18 invitees compete for spots on the two 23-player squads that will play a pair of three-game series' against the United States from Aug. 17-21.
According to Hockey Canada, the 42 development team members will be split up into two teams – Red and White. The teams will participate in various practices and intrasquad games, along with off-ice dryland training, fitness training and classroom sessions.
This is the second development camp for Munroe this summer. She participated in Canada's National Women's Program strength and conditioning camp in May in Hamilton, Ont.
In her rookie season at Syracuse, Munroe came on as one of the primary defenseman for the Orange. The Yarmouth, N.S. native scored four goals and dished out six assists for 10 total points. She was also selected to the All-CHA Tournament team after scoring a goal in both the semifinals and championship game, recording three points total in the two games.
