Julian Whigham Signs with Steelers

LATROBE, Pa. – Former Syracuse cornerback Julian Whigham has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent. The Steelers announced Whigham's addition, along with additions of offensive tackle Wade Hansen and defensive tackle Khaynin Mosley-Smith, yesterday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Pittsburgh marks Whigham's second professional football stop. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills on April 31 and spent more than a month with the franchise before being released.

Whigham recorded 66 tackles in 43 games for the Orange from 2012-15. He finished his career with 10 passes defended, including four interceptions. Against Wake Forest in 2015, Whigham made a career-high seven tackles and was credited with two pass breakups to earn co-ACC Defensive Back of the Week honors.

The Steelers are back in action on Thursday, Aug. 18 for a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. They open the regular season Sept. 12 at Washington.
