
USA Moves On To Semis

Team USA bounced back from an early 19-9 deficit and emerged with a 105-78 victory against Argentina in the quarterfinals at the Rio Olympics.
After the Americans fell behind 19-9 in the first quarter, Durant keyed a 27-2 USA run that grabbed the lead. By halftime, the score was 56-40 in favor of Team USA.
Team USA is now 9-0 in Olympic quarterfinal games. The American Olympic program is 86-1 in international competition since 2006.
Manu Ginobili had 14 points and six assists and Luis Scola had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Argentina in defeat.
Team USA advances to the semifinals on Friday and will play Spain.Â

"The last three games of pool play were very beneficial to us, because we played three outstanding team," said USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "They showed some weaknesses that we have, and we tried to get better. The only way to get better is by playing these tough games."Â
Kevin Durant led the Americans with 27, which included seven 3-pointers. Durant added seven rebounds and seven assists. Paul George had 17 points and nine rebounds and Demarcus Cousins added 15 points, both in reserve roles.
