
Syracuse Picked Third in ACC Preseason Coaches Poll

Lagerweij and Hurff tabbed to preseason team
Following its historic 2015 campaign, the Syracuse field hockey team was tabbed to finish third in the ACC Preseason Poll and a pair of 'Cuse juniors were selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
Midfielder Laura Hurff and back Lies Lagerweij are the Orange representatives on the Preseason All-ACC team, which features multiple selections from North Carolina, Louisville and Virginia in addition to Syracuse's two.
The Orange received 27 points in the poll, including a pair of first place votes, which was voted on by the league's seven head coaches. North Carolina was picked to finish first in the poll, with 34 points and four first place votes, followed by Virginia with one first place vote and 28 points. Duke (22), Wake Forest (14), Louisville (12) and Boston College (10) round out the poll.

Syracuse opens its 2016 campaign on Friday, when the team travels to Philadelphia to square off with Temple, before taking on Maryland Sunday. The Orange's first home contest will take place against ACC foe Boston College on Friday, Sept. 9.
