After opening up its home slate with a pair of wins over ranked opponents, the Syracuse field hockey team (6-0, 1-0 ACC) remained No. 1 in the NFHCA poll this week.
This is the second-straight week Syracuse has been ranked No. 1. The Orange were ranked No. 1 in five of the 10 NFHCA polls last season and also spent time at No. 1 in the 2012 and 2008 seasons. 'Cuse has now been ranked in the top-four of 15-straight polls, the top-10 of 19-straight polls and top-20 of 91-straight polls.
Behind the Orange, who received 881 points and 31 first place votes in this week's poll are a pair of ACC rivals. Duke currently sits in second with 828 points and two first place votes, with North Carolina right behind at 822 points and six first place votes. Penn State (768/seven first place votes) and UConn (749) round out the top-five.
Syracuse received 31-of-46 first-place votes to highlight the ACC heavy poll, featuring the top three teams and five of the top-11 programs from the conference. The ACC has had every one of its programs ranked in 38-consecutive polls.
