Title Defense Begins Saturday
9/2/2016 2:22:00 PM | Cross Country
The No. 1 Syracuse men's cross country team and No. 15 women kick off their 2016 seasons on Saturday when the teams take on the Harry Lang Invitational.
The men finished second and the women placed third at the meet last season, which is too early in the season to count towards national qualifying thus often features a limited roster of competitors. 2015 'Cuse grad Cassia Hameline was the 2015 individual champion, while Juris Silenieks placed second in the men's race to lead the Orange.
Stephanie Bitcon placed fourth for the women last year and Shawn Wilson placed third as the top-returning competitors on each side for the men.
The event is scheduled to get underway at 11:30 a.m. at the Lang Course in Hamilton, N.Y. on Saturday.
