Lydon, Schwarz Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Tyler Lydon of the men's basketball team and Heather Schwarz of the women's ice hockey team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Lydon is a sophomore majoring in communication and rhetorical studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
A native of Elizaville, N.Y., Lydon and the men's basketball team are currently 11-9 this season and will host Wake Forest (Jan. 24) and No. 10/12 Florida State (Jan. 28) this week in the Carrier Dome.
Lydon is averaging 13.7 points per game this season and he has posted 20-point performances in three of the last seven games. He is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 7.6 per game, including a double-double at No. 15/15 Notre Dame on Saturday.
Schwarz is a senior exercise science major in the School of Education.
A native of Naugatuck, Conn., Schwarz and the women's hockey team are currently in second place in College Hockey America. The Orange host Robert Morris for a pair of games on Jan. 27 and 28 at Tennity Ice Pavilion. The Colonials are the first place team in the CHA with a two-point lead over Syracuse.
Schwarz is the leading goal scorer for 'Cuse with 10 on the season, including a goal against Lindenwood on Saturday. Her two game-winning goals is tied for the most in the conference. Her goal total and 15 points are a season high for the senior.
