Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight Match At Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Syracuse women's volleyball team recorded its fifth win a row over Boston College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-21), Wednesday evening in an ACC matchup at Power Gym. The Orange (14-6, 6-1 ACC) continues to build on its best ever start in ACC play. The Eagles drop to 5-12 and 2-5 in the conference.
Anastasiya Gorelina led 'Cuse with a match-high 11 kills and added seven digs. Jalissa Trotter dished out a match-leading 20 assists with 11 digs and Belle Sand produced a team-high 12 digs. Ella Saada recorded 10 kills and 10 digs.
How It Was Decided
Syracuse held a 17-16 lead in a tightly contested first set and outscored the Eagles 8-6 down to stretch to win, 25-22. Gorelina chipped in three key kills and Christina Oyawale punched home the set-winning kill.
The Orange led 12-10 in the second set and used a 9-1 run to pull away. 'Cuse took the set 25-16 and out-blocked Boston College 4-0. Saada posted five kills and three digs along the way.
With the third set knotted up at 19, Syracuse closed the game on a 6-2 run and was victorious, 25-21. The Orange used two kills from Oyawale, a kill from Trotter and three Eagle errors down the stretch.
Coach's Thoughts
"I think that we continued to build up our confidence this game," said associate head coach Erin Little. "It was impressive to see the girls bounce back whenever they faced adversity. Defensively, we did really well today."
Of Note
On top of its five-match winning streak, The Orange has won 10 straight sets.
What's Next?
Syracuse returns home on Friday, Oct. 13 to face Pittsburgh in an ACC matchup. The Panthers handed the Orange its only ACC loss in September and remain unbeaten in conference play.
