KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former Orange wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo was signed to the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad on Wednesday, Oct. 11, the team announced.
Â
A graduate transfer from Maryland, Etta-Tawo authored the most prolific receiving season in Syracuse football history in his one year with the Orange. He set or tied 10 school records in 2016, including the team single-season marks for receptions (94), receiving yards (1,482), receiving yards per game (123.5) and 100-yard receiving games (7). He matched the Orange season standard with 14 touchdown receptions, including a program-record five against Pittsburgh.
Â
Etta-Tawo signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in April. He was released by the Jaguars three weeks ago.
Â
In Kansas City, Etta-Tawo joins another wide receiver who excelled in head coach Dino Babers' offense – Gehrig Dieter. Dieter played two seasons for Babers at Bowling Green before finishing his college career at Alabama.
Â
The Chiefs are 3-2 and host the Pittsburgh Steelers at Arrowhead Stadium this Sunday.
