SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's volleyball team won its third straight contest, 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-21), against Virginia Sunday afternoon at the Women's Building in an ACC matchup. The Orange improves to 17-8 and 9-3 in conference play. The Cavaliers drop to 5-18 and 1-11.

Anastasiya Gorelina led 'Cuse with 13 kills and six digs. Jalissa Trotter recorded a match-high 24 assists, Amber Witherspoon led all competitors with six blocks and Belle Sand added a team-leading eight digs.

How It Was Decided
Syracuse led 10-9 early in the first set and went on an 8-3 scoring run to take control. Kills from Ella Saada and Kendra Lukacs, along with a Virginia error, capped off a 25-17 victory.

The Orange never trailed in the second set and won 25-19. Gorelina produced five kills and Witherspoon added three blocks.

With set three knotted up at 21, 'Cuse scored the last four points to win 25-21. A Cavalier attack error along with kills from Santita Ebangwese, Gorelina and Christina Oyawale solidified the victory.

Coach's Thoughts
"We did what we had to do to win," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "We did not play to the level that we know we can and that will need to change heading into our upcoming matches."

Of Note
Syracuse continues to build on its best ever start in ACC play. The Orange trail Pittsburgh, Louisville and NC State by one game for first place in the conference.

What's Next?
'Cuse faces NC State and North Carolina on the road on Nov. 3 and 5, respectively.
