Volleyball Defeats Georgia Tech In Straight Sets

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Anastasiya Gorelina and Ella Saada tied for a match-high 16 kills to help the Syracuse women's volleyball team defeat Georgia Tech, 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-19), Sunday afternoon in an ACC matchup at the Women's Building.
The Orange (13-6, 5-1 ACC) is off to its best ever start in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets drop to 7-10 and 2-4 in the conference.
Jalissa Trotter produced a match-leading 34 assists, Belle Sand added a match-high 16 digs and Santita Ebangwese led all competitors with five blocks. Saada also contributed 11 digs.
How It Was Decided
Syracuse jumped out to an 18-15 advantage and closed out the first set on a 7-3 scoring run. Back-to-back kills by Trotter sealed the 25-18 victory.
A kill from Saada tied a closely contested second set at 24. The teams traded the next two points and Gorelina followed with two kills in a row to lift 'Cuse to a 27-25 win.
The Orange continued to roll in the third set and built a 17-10 lead. Saada clinched the match with a kill and Syracuse won 25-19.
Coach's Thoughts
"I'm glad that our team continues to play better and better," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "We played a very good opponent; Georgia Tech has beaten a lot of good teams. We have been able to stick to our game plan and we continue to have success."
Of Note
Syracuse's four-match winning streak is the longest since the 2015 season. The 2015 team rolled off six victories in a row.

The Orange travels to Boston College for an ACC matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.
