Orange Open December Slate Against Lindenwood

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange hit the ice for the first time in 12 days when they host Lindenwood for a two-game series at Tennity Ice Pavilion to open the December hockey slate. Syracuse is undefeated in conference play thus far, sitting in second in the CHA standings just behind No. 9 Robert Morris.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Orange squared-off with RIT in a home-and-home series, coming out on top in both games to remain undefeated in conference play this year. Syracuse amassed nine goals over the two games and pinned 70 shots on the Tigers.
 
Redshirt junior Brooke Avery led the offensive effort for the Orange tallying three goals and an assist in the two games against RIT. Syracuse had seven different goal scorers, including a score by Logan Hicks for the first goal of her collegiate career. Lindsay Eastwood led all defenseman in points, notching three assists and a goal in the series.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse and Lindenwood have met a total of 24 times in program history with the Orange holding the 19-3-2 edge in the all-time series. 'Cuse has not faced defeat at the hands of the Lions since Nov. 28, 2014. The teams have met 10 times since then with Syracuse posting an 8-0-2 record in that 10-game span.
 
The last time the two teams faced-off was in a two-game set in January of last season. The Orange shutout the Lions in both games, recording a 5-0 victory in game one and a 3-0 shutout win in game two. Syracuse and Lindenwood butted heads six times during the 2016-17 campaign with the Orange coming out on top all six games, outscoring the Lions 24-1.
 
SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Tigers sit at 2-9-1 on the season with a 2-4-0 record in conference play. Lindenwood is looking to rebound from a pair of losses to No. 6 Minnesota, including a 4-3 overtime defeat in game two of the series. Junior Jolene DeBruyn started between the pipes in game one, tallying 42 saves against the Golden Gophers. Sophomore Taylor Girard paces the Lions in points (14) with eight goals and six assists this season.
 
GOALS, GOALS, GOALS
The Orange tallied nine goals in the two-game series against RIT, marking the first time that Syracuse has posted nine or more goals in a two-game set since pinning nine on Robert Morris on Feb. 12-13, 2016.
 
This marks the eighth time in program history that Syracuse has amassed at least nine goals between two games. During the 2008-09 season, the Orange posted two series, both against Sacred Heart, with 10+ goals. Syracuse recorded 17 goals in the first series and 10 goals in the second series for the season sweep.
