Fomer 'Cuse star leads the NFL in sacks
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse University standout Chandler Jones was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his six-year NFL career on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Jones was voted one of the NFC's two starters at outside linebacker, along with Ryan Kerrigan of the Washington Redskins. In 14 games for the Arizona Cardinals this season, Jones has 51 tackles and leads the NFL in both tackles for loss (25) and sacks (15).
Â
A native of Endicott, N.Y., Jones starred for the Orange from 2009-11. He totaled 147 tackles, including 27 for a loss, and was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection during his college career.
Â
Jones was drafted in the first round (21st overall) by the New England Patriots in the 2012 NFL Draft. After four seasons in New England, the Patriots traded him to Arizona in 2016. Jones signed a five-year contract extension with the Cardinals worth $82.5 million in March.
The 88 Pro Bowl players announced yesterday were elected by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counted one-third toward determining the selections.
Â
The 2018 Pro Bowl will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. on Jan. 28. The game will be televised live at 3 p.m. on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN, and it will be simulcast on ABC.
