HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- After playing five consecutive home games to start the season, the No. 5/4 Syracuse women's lacrosse team goes on the road for the first time in 2017 to face No. 12/11 Northwestern on on Friday, Mar. 3. The contest is slated for a 6 p.m. start at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.

ORANGE VS.RANKED TEAMS
Syracuse begins a stretch where it will play three teams ranked in the top 15 in its next four games. Northwestern is ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll and No. 11 in the Cascade media poll. The Orange will take on Maryland in College Park on Saturday, March 11. The Terrapins are the new No. 1 team in the nation this week after defeating defending national champion North Carolina last weekend. Syracuse's road trip continues on Tuesday, March 14 when it faces No. 3 Florida in Gainesville.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Northwestern comes into Friday's contest with a 2-2 overall record. After defeating Canisius, 9-7, in their season opener, and No. 7/8 Notre Dame, 14-13, the Wildcats lost to Colorado, 11-10, and No. 4/5 USC in overtime. Christina Esposito leads the team in scoring (15 pts.) and goals (14), while and Selena Lasota has 13 points on eight goals and five assists. Both were named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday's game is the 16th all-time meeting between Syracuse and Northwestern. The Wildcats own a 12-3 advantage in the series over the Orange. Last season, the Orange defeated Northwestern, 16-12, in the Carrier Dome.

The Orange returns to ACC play against Virginia at the Carrier Dome on Sunday, March 5 at 4 p.m. Admission and parking are both free of charge.
