This week is the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest lacrosse games ever played.
The Syracuse men's lacrosse team will host Virginia in a key matchup to start ACC play this Sunday in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse and UVA have produced thrillers over the years in such an even matchup that the series is tied 16-16 with each team netting an identical 416 goals over the 32 matchups.
However in a long list of fantastic finishes and incredible performances, one game stands out above all. It happened 20 years ago this week, in what's widely considered one of the greatest games ever played, Casey Powell turned in one of the game's individual great performances on Feb. 27, 1997, recording a program record 13 points (7 goals, 6 assists) in a 22-21 victory by the No. 3 Orange over the No. 2 Cavaliers.
The game featured a thrilling back-and-forth tempo by both teams. Check out the full higlights below.
