SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse head men's soccer coach Ian McIntyre has announced the addition of three student-athletes to his 2017 recruiting class. Oliver Eisen, Manny Nunez-Ferrer and Petter Stangeland (Sandnes, Norway) will join the program in the fall.
Â
"We are thrilled to be able to add these three quality student-athletes to our program," McIntyre said. "The addition of Oliver, Manny and Petter enhances an already talented 2017 recruiting class. We are all looking forward to having these young men join us here on campus in August."
Â
Oliver Eisen – Stockholm, Sweden – Kungsholmens Gymnasium
Eisen plays for Taby FK in Sweden's U19 Allsvenskan. As a dual citizen of the United States and Sweden, he has represented Team Sweden in the 2015 Maccabi Games, Team USA in the 2016 Maccabi Pan Am Games and has been selected to compete for Maccabi USA in the 20th World Maccabiah Games this summer.
Â
"Oliver is another player who really impressed our staff during an ID camp here on campus," McIntyre said. "He is a quick, explosive player who is very comfortable on the ball. He is direct, has an eye for the goal, and possesses the ability to play in several different attacking positions. Oliver will benefit from playing for Maccabi USA this summer alongside other U.S. college players as he prepares for the fall."
Â
Manny Nunez-Ferrer – Austin, Texas – Bowie HS
Nunez-Ferrer, who was a two-year captain of his Bowie High School team, scored 12 goals and recorded 15 assists during his senior campaign and earned All-State honors. His high school team won a Texas State Championship during his career and he currently plays for Central Texas Dynamo Juniors.   Â
Â
"Manny is a talented, technical player who has excelled within our ID program in recent years," McIntyre said. "He possesses the ability to control a game from a deeper midfielder position, but also has a knack for creating and scoring goals when he moves forward into more advanced positions."Â
Â
Petter Stangeland – Sandnes, Norway – Sandnes Videregaende Skola
Stangeland is a proven goal scorer at Sandnes Ulf first and reserve team in the Norwegian 2nd tier OBOS-league. He was the top goal scorer in the Norwegian 3rd tier last year with the Sandnes reserve squad.
Â
"Petter is an athletic, industrious forward who always makes life very difficult for opposing defenders," McIntyre said. "He has the physical presence and speed to make a quick transition to our college game. I am very excited to work with Petter this fall and integrate him into our team and our style of play."
Â
Eisen, Nunez-Ferrer and Stangeland join the recruiting class that was ranked No. 6 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. It includes two members of Top Drawer Soccer's Top 100, as well as Hugo Delhommelle and Djimon Johnson, who enrolled at Syracuse in January.
