
Orange Trio Begin 2017 WNBA Season

Peterson and Sykes begin rookie campaigns
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Center Kayla Alexander '13 and guards Alexis Peterson and Brittney Sykes, the top three scorers in Syracuse women's basketball program history, are all set to begin play when the 2017 WNBA season kicks off on Saturday.
Alexander is in her fifth season with the San Antonio Stars. The Milton, Ontario native recently wrapped up her 2016-17 campaign with Tango Bourges Basketball in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball in France. Alexander and San Antonio open their season on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. on the road against the New York Liberty. The contest will be available locally on MSG.
Peterson enters her first professional campaign with the Seattle Storm. The Columbus, Ohio product earned All-America plaudits by three outlets following her final year on campus. Peterson and Seattle begin competition on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. when they take on the Los Angeles Sparks on the road. The game will be shown on ESPN.
Sykes also is beginning her professional career, joining the Atlanta Dream. The Newark, N.J. native was the program's highest WNBA Draft selection when she was picked seventh overall in April. Sykes and Atlanta start the year on the road against the Connecticut Sun on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
