Virginia Tech Head Coach Quotes
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Virginia Tech
Tuesday, February 2, 2016
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Virginia Tech Head Coach Buzz Williams
How did the game get away from you?
“I thought they made some great shots. We could have handled it slightly better than we did. We missed some layups that you probably have to make on the road. I thought we handled it much better than we did last year in the same situation. But there’s still room for improvement, for sure.”
What adjustments did you make in the second half?
“I thought some of the things that we did defensively were good. Maybe some of the shots that they typically make, they missed in the first half. I thought they made some really great shots to close the game out. They made winning plays in overtime.”
Can you talk about Syracuse’s veteran leadership?
“Obviously their experience helps. I don't think that their heart rate changes relative to the score. I think they are both (Cooney and Gbinije) really, really good players. They have three seniors, two of which are graduates, and they’re an anchor in environments such as that.”
Can you talk about the play of Syracuse’s freshmen?
“I think the freshmen that are playing for them have a distinct niche and will continue to get better.”
